Project Vox, (the Latin word for voice), is designed to give a greater voice to people who are alcoholic or drug addicted.

By sharing personal recovery stories (without mentioning membership in AA, Al-Anon, or other anonymous 12-step programs), Vox members strive to:

Members of Vox volunteer their time to help promote public understanding about alcoholism and drug dependence as preventable and treatable diseases.

By participating in the following annual activities members of Vox enjoy the company of others in recovery while promoting the message that recovery works:

Project Vox History

The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence of Michigan is a statewide, nonprofit organization founded in 1973 to promote public understanding of alcoholism and drug dependence.

In 1999, a 3-year federal grant from the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, (CSAT), was awarded to NCADD Michigan to develop and implement Project Vox chapters throughout the state.

Currently, there are several Chapters in Michigan - From Marquette to Battle Creek - and over 325 statewide members.  The Greater Flint Project Vox Inc. is considered the most active and with the largest number of members (over 80).

Personal Anonymity

According to "Understanding Anonymity," a brochure published by A.A.'s General Service Office,  "A.A. members may disclose their identity and speak as recovered alcoholics, giving radio and TV interviews, without violating the Traditions - so long as their A.A. membership is not revealed."
